Orange-y Tea Towels

I've taken a couple of my favorite prints, kumquat and fresh squeezed and made up some new tea towels. I really love a little hint of orange in my kitchen; it always feels fresh and clean.

These are available in the shop now!

For the Love of Gingham

I've always loved the look of brown gingham, and it has had a place in my stash of fabrics for a long time.  When I was getting ready for the Renegade Craft fair last month, I was working on some Simplicity Totes and decided to make a few with a gingham lining.  I loved it so much that I had to keep one for myself.

Then, there were some leftover bits of the heavy linen I use for the Simplicity Tote, which I wanted to use somehow, so I created this little button bag.  It is lined with a smaller brown gingham than the tote, and is the perfect size for make-up, lingerie, or toiletries.  My e-friend Maya of mayamade created some little bags similar to these a couple of weeks ago and uses them for first-aid supplies, which is also a brilliant idea.

Both the button bag and the new Simplicity tote are now available in my shop.

New: The Hydrangea Tea Towel

The hydrangea in my yard inspired me to make a few hydrangea tea towels, the perfect way to bring some summer into your kitchen.

And, I finally put together a page for Inklore on facebook; I'd love for you to become a fan.  I'm planning to have a few sales just for facebook fans each year, so don't miss out!

Aprons for Everyone!

It was a little less than a year ago that I introduced my first apron design, and I'm delighted to introduce these new, updated versions of my old favorites.  I've taken my no-ties apron and updated it with grommets (I know, shocking!); it is also now available in both linen and canvas.  Both are equally comfortable and lovely.  You'll also notice a new photo of my linen half apron, which I'm renaming the linen cafe apron, and there's a new canvas version of it as well.  Truly, there are now aprons for everyone!

An Obsession

I think you could say that I'm officially obsessed with grommets.  What started out as an innocent idea for the simplicity tote has led to an entire line of things made with grommets.

The latest items to get their grommets are the simplicity tea towel, all made with beautiful yarn-dyed linen...

and the simplicity sachet keychain, a lavender sachet turned into a keychain, with the use of a grommet.

I have at least one more item in the works for my simplicity line, and then perhaps I can move on to another obsession.

Little Bits

As everyone who sews knows, there are always little fabric bits left at the end of big projects.  I decided last week to take those bits and sew them up:

into pretty lavender sachets with colorful twill tape loops

and flaxseed and lavender eye pillows, meant for relaxing (or chasing away a dreadful headache)

...and:  "two little love birds sitting in a tree,
protecting your table from your icy cold tea."

Sorry, it had to be done.

Apple and Chocolate

I've been planning to re-make some of my favorite designs in new colors for Spring/Summer, but it was the rush of creativity that came last week that gave me the push I needed to mix some new colors.  Apples and Chocolate don't really taste swell together, but I do love the combination of colors.  I've redone my branches and quatrefoil patterns in apple green and chocolate brown; I think the results are quite yummy.

Tea Cosie

Linen Pillow Slips

Linen Bucket

I'll be adding these to my shops today if you need some retail therapy...

Spontaneous Creativity

One of the most exciting parts of getting ready for a craft fair for me was the moments of spontaneous creativity.  Because all the prints, inks, and materials were out at the same time, I did quite a lot of experimenting with new ideas.  Today I'm sharing my favorite result.

I took my simplicity tote in canvas and used a bit of charcoal ink and some of my favorite prints to create these bags.  This is a great bag; it's easy and comfortable to wear and is finished with french seams inside which makes it just a bit nicer than a typical canvas bag.

Do you have any great spontaneous creative moments to share?

First out of the Jar

As promised, I'm back with my first project from the jar.  I have to tell you...that jar is working wonders for me.  It makes getting through my to-do list much more fun.  The first project I pulled out this weekend was a shoe bag.  I decided to make a men's version first.  It is made with linen, lined with muslin and printed with "shoes".  I asked my husband to help me choose a masculine font, and I'm really happy with the results.  Now I need to work on the women's version.

You can also find me today over on Artists who blog!  Thanks Stephanie.

New in The Shop: Quatrefoil Pillow Slip

I love this traditional design and decided to do a modern take on it.  The printing of this design was a study in spacing/placement for me.  I happen to love math, so it was really quite fun. Find it now in my shop!
