Hello September!

First things first; above is the only print I carved in all of August, and I have to say that even though it was more of a challenge for myself than it was meant to be useful, it just didn't make me happy. When I clicked over to Modish biz tips today and saw that I'm not the only one seemingly in a creative funk, I decided to join in with the monthly goal meetup.

September goals:
1. Unslumpify yo'self, girl. (This one is Jena's but completely captures my mood.)
2. Read a book that has nothing to do with design.
3. Set aside one working day each week to be creative...no blogs, magazines, hunting for inspiration; only drawing, printing, carving, sewing allowed.
4. Introduce new website design and contact 3 brick and mortar stores each week regarding wholesaling.

That should do it. I think number 3 will be most valuable. I've been spending much too much time looking for inspiration, but not doing anything with it. Wish me luck!

Hey Sam
Great goals. Love your #3. Looking inside instead of outside is what my sept is hopefully going to be all about.

good luck for your goals. #3 is always hard for me too, esp. on the web, there's so much great stuff out there to look at!
Best! Deb

#3 is so smart and worthwhile! I may have to adopt that goal unofficially. Good luck this month, Sam.

Great goals - I should adopt #3. I tend to do a lot of "research" and consume waaay too much eye candy, when really I should just get to work. I find a lot of times I am most creative when I've gone on an "inspiration fast."

Not sure if you're a foodie like me, but my "fun" reading right now is "My Life in France" by Julia Child. After seeing Julie & Julia I had to read the book. And honestly, it's much better than the movie. Best of luck with September!

You can do it! How I do hate the slumps. Just take it one step at a time.

Number 2 appeals to me! But I agree, number 3 is probably the most important; I find it difficult to work on things that I'm not sure are going to work, but that's also the most exciting part of what I do.

I love your list. All are definable, and achievable. But also simple and essential. Good luck.

Fabulous list of goals. I agree getting away from the computer will help your creativity. Plus it's just healthier while the weather is nice. Save that holing up for later.

I just made my monthly goals for the first time and already love seeing everyone elses too. Very inspiring!

I knew your business name looked familiar - I remember seeing you on 'artists who blog' - beautiful work! Great goals - number three is so key, even though sometimes I have to force myself to set aside the time.

Welcome to the meetup! I love the name of your biz, and I love your pillow slips--especially yarrow and branches.

Your #3 is a great goal--I should do more of that myself! Like Lisa, I tend to waste so much time "researching," which usually just means aimless surfing.

Best of luck in September!

Go-Sam-Go! Read a good book. Have you read Twilight? The series is sure to suck you in...

"I've been spending much too much time looking for inspiration, but not doing anything with it."

That's me in a nutshell! I'm always looking around and collecting, but never seem to let out my distilled ideas. I'm all clogged and saturated, and it's time to purge.

Good luck!

Sara
