Midweek Inspirations: Edna Boies Hopkins

I'm working on some new block prints this week, playing with the white-line method of block printing.  My favorite artist who used this method is Edna Boies Hopkins, who was part of the Provincetown Printers during the early 20th century.

Her work includes delicate florals, landscapes, figures, and some more modern, boldly colored works.  I love her use of watercolor and woodblock, a marriage between strength and femininity.  You can find a peek at one of the projects I'm working on in my flickr stream.
